Position Description

The Internal Communications Manager plays an important role in helping to inform, engage and empower U.S. Soccer employees in multiple locations and remote working. This individual will be an integral member of both the Corporate Communications team, supporting all internal communications across the organization. This dedicated individual will be a creative writer and content creator, who understands employees as an audience.

The individual in this role will maximize different channels, including the monthly all staff meeting, the intranet, newsletters, videos, talking points, emails and more, to deliver relevant, personalized content to employees. They will be innovative and excited to try new approaches to get information to employees. They will have experience creating and executing communications plans for specific initiatives, while ensuring these communications connect to the broader U.S. Soccer strategy. This individual will be highly organized, known for their attention to detail and a strong project manager who is able to balance multiple priorities. They will maintain an ongoing internal communications content calendar and support transparency across the team.

This person will build strong relationships across the Federation and be seen as a trusted partner. They will be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and be able to pivot seamlessly with discretion and accuracy.

Primary Responsibilities

Develop and execute comprehensive, holistic communications strategies for internal clients.
Be a true and trusted business partner, helping to advise on employee branding, culture development, and storytelling around key initiatives.
Lead the content creation for the U.S. Soccer intranet, while developing a process to establish content leaders across departments.
Create and distribute staff and leader newsletters, adding value to all employees.
Work with the Inclusion & Engagement team on all internal initiatives, providing support and guidance as needed.
Support the establishment of metrics and measurement across the internal communications team.
Ensure messaging is consistent with established Federation messaging, internally and externally.
Align all communications with business objectives, clearly connecting to the U.S. Soccer mission, vision, strategy and purpose.
Develop strong cross-functional relationships with key partners and stakeholders across the organization.
Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications

4–6 years of experience in internal or corporate communications
Bachelor’s degree in communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or related field
Experience supporting or leading internal communications efforts within a large organization
Exceptional writing and storytelling skills with the ability to tailor messaging for diverse audiences and formats
Experience managing internal communications tools (e.g., intranet CMS, email campaign platforms, collaboration apps)
Strong organizational and project management skills; able to manage multiple deadlines
The ability to work independently and in a collaborative work environment is required, along with strong organizational, interpersonal, analytical, and planning skills
Proficient experience with Microsoft Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook)
Creative, curious, and proactive mindset with strong attention to detail
Must be able to connect “micro” details to the “macro” vision and mission
Experience in sports, non-profit, or mission-driven organizations a plus
Familiarity with the U.S. soccer ecosystem and/or international sports landscape
Commitment to U.S. Soccer’s mission and a passion for growing the game for all
Capable of working in fast-paced and demanding environments
Able and willing to work non-traditional hours including evenings, weekends and holidays

U.S. Soccer is looking for a Manager of Internal Communications & Digital Platforms to elevate how we connect with and engage our internal audiences. This role will play a critical part in shaping our culture, aligning our workforce around our mission, and modernizing our internal storytelling.

The ideal candidate is a strategic communicator with a passion for people and a strong grasp of digital communications tools. In this role you’ll build employee communications programs that inspire, inform, and connect internal audiences. You will also lead the building and optimization of channels like the intranet, email, and emerging internal platforms to ensure impactful reach and resonance creating a more connected employee experience, fostering real time engagement, and equipping leaders and teams with the tools they need to communicate effectively at every level of the organization.

Primary Responsibilities

Internal Communications

  • Develop and implement internal communication strategies that foster transparency, connection, and alignment across the organization
  • Partner with People & Culture, leadership, and cross-functional teams to support major initiatives, org-wide announcements, and cultural moments
  • Write compelling content including employee newsletters, talking points, executive messages, and internal campaigns
  • Support communication plans for key programs like DEIB, employee recognition, town halls, benefits rollouts, and business priorities

Digital Platforms & Channel Management

  • Oversee internal digital platforms (e.g., intranet, email tools, Teams/Slack) and manage content calendar, updates, and performance
  • Lead the redesign and reimagination of U.S. Soccer’s intranet to better serve and engage employees
  • Monitor channel effectiveness using analytics and recommend optimizations to improve content reach and engagement
  • Ensure brand, tone, and message consistency across internal touchpoints

Strategic Storytelling

  • Identify and amplify internal stories that highlight our people, progress, and purpose
  • Develop multi-channel content that connects employees to U.S. Soccer’s values, culture, and mission
  • Collaborate with Corporate Comms and External Comms on storytelling strategies that bridge internal and external narratives

Position Description

The Payroll Manager will oversee the payroll operations for all U.S. Soccer employees, including network staff, full/part-time employees, contractors, and national team players covered by collective bargaining agreements. This role will ensure accurate and timely payroll processing, compliance with international, federal, state, and local regulations, and support the organization’s commitment to operational excellence. The Payroll Manager will also serve as the subject matter expert for payroll systems and processes, and will partner closely with HR, Finance, and other departments to optimize payroll-related workflows.

Payroll & Leadership Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee the end-to-end payroll process for all employees, including network staff, full/part-time employees, contractors, and unionized national team players.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and collective bargaining agreements.
  • Supervise payroll staff and coordinate workflow to ensure timely and accurate payroll processing.
  • Maintain and update payroll systems (e.g., Paylocity, Sage), ensuring data integrity and security.
  • Review and approve payroll transactions, reconciliations, and adjustments.
  • Oversee payroll tax filings, W-2/1099 processing, and year-end reporting.
  • Collaborate with HR and Finance on employee onboarding/offboarding, benefits administration, and compensation changes.
  • Develop and implement payroll policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Respond to employee inquiries and resolve payroll-related issues.
  • Stay current on payroll best practices, regulatory changes, and system enhancements.
  • Support audits and provide payroll data as requested.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field required.
  • 5+ years of payroll experience, including supervisory or management roles.
  • Experience with international, multi-state payroll, union/collective bargaining agreements, and complex payroll environments preferred.
  • Proficiency with payroll systems (Paylocity, Sage, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll laws, tax regulations, and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

  • Capable of working in fast-paced and demanding environments

Position Description

U.S. Soccer is seeking a dynamic and strategic Manager, Communications to drive storytelling and elevate the profile of the Soccer Forward Foundation, while aligning communications across the Advancement and Commercial teams. This role plays a critical part in building awareness and momentum around major gifts, partnerships, and donor impact, while seamlessly connecting the work of the Foundation to broader commercial initiatives.

This position will work closely with the Vice President, External Communications to develop and execute an integrated communications strategy. The ideal candidate is a natural storyteller, strong writer, and proactive media liaison with excellent project management skills and the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the communications strategy for the Soccer Forward Foundation in collaboration with the VP, External Communications.
  • Create and manage storytelling opportunities for Soccer Forward programs. Work to build and maintain relationships with a diverse portfolio of reporters to secure coverage of Soccer Forward’s work. Regularly liaise with Federation programmatic staff to identify opportunities and assess options for pitching and storytelling through USSF channels and earned media.
  • Craft compelling narratives that highlight the impact of the Foundation, major gifts, and strategic donor partnerships.
  • Connect storytelling across Advancement, Commercial, and Foundation efforts to ensure brand alignment and amplify impact.
  • Create press materials, feature stories, speeches, talking points, and donor communications.
  • Pitch stories to media and secure earned coverage that enhances the visibility of the Foundation and Advancement programs.
  • Assist with reactive press support as needed: manage and field incoming press inquiries. Be able to provide research, recommendations, and strategic assessments for press inquiries.
  • Oversee the creation of donor spotlights, case statements, social media content, videos, and other storytelling tools.
  • Serve as a liaison between the Advancement, Commercial, and Foundation teams to align messaging and share success stories.
  • Support Commercial partnerships with communications content that ties back to mission-driven work.
  • Lead and manage multiple communications projects from concept to execution, ensuring on-time delivery and high-quality outcomes.
  • Track progress and provide regular updates to internal stakeholders.
Requirements:


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in in communications, public relations, or related field.
  • Experience developing campaigns from the ground up, including strategy, messaging, content, and distribution – specifically for initiatives focused on community or social impact.
  • Outstanding writing and editing skills for different formats including reactive statements, briefing memos, press releases, social media, pitches, etc.
  • Strong planning capabilities to identify and prioritize communication strategies and activities, execute upon them and meet fast-moving deadlines.
  • Track record of successfully pitching and placing stories in traditional and digital media.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills; able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
